Audience, Genre, Narrative and Representations

Audience
The audience we are presenting our music video to are teenage girls, between the ages of 12 and 18. I thought this would be an appropriate age to appeal to as in the video we are going to be using two 17 year old girls who we will present as sisters. This will attract the audience as it involves two girls of similar ages to themselves and therefore they will be able to relate well to the video.

Genre
The genre of our music video will be indie/pop. We couldn't decide on one genre in particular as we felt that the song has elements of both pop music and indie style music. This decision was also based on the two artists we compared Megan to, Taylor Swift and Ellie Goulding. Taylor is a mixture of indie, country and more recently her songs are having a more pop music sound to them.

Narrative
The narrative for our music is story telling. We wanted our video to tell a story as the lyrics and meaning of the song are deep and we felt that it would be more effective if we made the video tell a meaningful story. A girl loses her sister, we are going to use flashbacks to ensure that the audience understand the meaning of the song/video.

Representations
The representations that we intend to create as a group for our music video are friendship, family and the feeling when you lose someone. The message we want to send out to our audience is that the meaning of the song is to highlight that she has lost someone close to her and hopefully our video will help other people to connect with the song.
